Washcloth to combat acne

28 May, 2008 · 3 Comments

Recently, I heard that using a washcloth daily helps to combat acne owing to the gentle exfoliating effect of terrycloth. Today, I made this little guy for J because I know that he will not be bothered/ forget to use a washcloth unless it is a prominent feature in the bathroom.

Pj Shorts!

26 May, 2008 · Leave a Comment

I love D who whipped up this pair of silly looking but comfy PJ shorts in 15mins. I don’t understand how she winged the pattern. I only hemmed the opening. (: We found the fabric is one of our many boxes. Its origin is unknown but it does appear that someone used it as a curtain before. What a mystery.

Foodlink Seafood & Catering – Serangoon North

22 May, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Last night, we had dinner at Foodlink Seafood and Catering. I don’t usually refer to these kopitiam eateries by their names. I know them only as 煮炒 (zhi cha in the hokkien dialect, meaning to cook and fry) stalls and refer to different ones by their location. 煮炒  must be one of my favourite things about Singapore. Very often, you find more than one kopitiam shop serving 煮炒 in any Singaporean housing estate. Naturally, some are better than others. It is advisable to go in larger groups so that you can enjoy the variety.

Crappy Cellphone Pictures of the excellent food: chilli, sweet potato leaves, black bean soup in pot and bowl, house special tofu, salad prawn, sweet and sour fish, black pepper beef and herbal chicken.

Foodlink Seafood and Catering is located at Block 151, #01-41 Serangoon North, Avenue 2, Singapore 550151.

Gift Idea for a Baby Boy – Alex’s Tee!

18 May, 2008 · Leave a Comment

I decorated this plain blue baby boy t-shirt from Petit Bateau. In case you can’t tell, it’s a golf ball on a tee. The ball is hand embroidered with chain stitch. The yellow tee is a felt applique and the grass was machine embroidered using free-motion embroidery. I hope he likes it. Not the prettiest thing but I’m satisfied with my first attempt at embroidery.

Wacom Bamboo Fun

12 May, 2008 · Leave a Comment

I really want a Wacom Bamboo Fun. I will be able to derive endless hours of fun from mindless doodling. It’ll also come in handy when I have to write essays or study. I’m a “visual learner” who digests course material best through excessively colourful concept maps. Those crazy criss-crossing lines really help to tie up the loose ends in my understanding. Think, no more paper and zig markers. Shall be ploughing through the reviews over the next couple of days!
