For Mister A.W.

29 January, 2008 · Leave a Comment

There are three exceptionally special guys in my life. This scarf is for the one who might actually need a scarf some time in the very near future. This is knitted with Sirdar Supernova SH880. Being the perfectionist I am, I can’t decide if I like it looking so uneven and bumpy because of the thick-thin nature of the yarn. But I’m pretty positive that you’ll like the organic, textured feel of it. And Yes, I always spoil surprises, but you’re used to it. Perhaps, a better picture when I’m done, hopefully by this weekend.

Death by Chocolate

29 January, 2008 · Leave a Comment

My housemate Liz has the best chocolate cake/brownie recipes.
Ironically, she’s allergic to cocoa.
Thank You for sharing all the chocolatey goodness with us. xxx.
As much as I love chocolate, I do not foresee myself ever baking a full-fledged chocolate cake.
I don’t mind making carrot cake, lemon cake, walnut cake, banana cake, coffee cake… just not a chocolate cake.
Irrational? I Know.

Joy

24 January, 2008 · 2 Comments

“Be angry, and do not sin”: do not let the sun go down on your wrath, nor give place to the devil. Ephesians 4: 26,27
Thursdays are the worst days of the week. They are the longest and seem to drain all the energy out of you. Today was no different, perhaps even worse than a typical Thursday. I had a really unpleasant practical session. To make things worst, I have yet to come to terms with the demise of Heath Ledger.

My lab demonstrator for Microorganisms, Cells and Immunity, who i shall refer to as Dementor, drains every scruple of energy and joy out of me. Yes, I understand that you’re a postgrad pursuing a PhD, blah blah. I also don’t want to give pathetic excuses about A levels not preparing us adequately or how my lab partner, J and I came straight into 2nd year with no lab experience with microorganisms at all. But I REALLY wish that you would stop talking to us in that patronizing, condescending tone of yours. It is the pride of people like you that takes the joy out of learning. A little more patience is all I ask from you, Skinny-Jeans-Wearing-Indie-Looking guy…As much as I am upset, I can’t help feeling sorry for you. You’re (so obviously) doing this either out of obligation or for the money. If it is not too much for me to add, a little smile from you will make you quite attractive, really. Everyone appreciates a cheerful, approachable guy.

I really want these pair of shoes but I can’t find them in the right size! ): Which is probably a good thing because I really can’t afford them now.

Pseudo Roti Prata

18 January, 2008 · Leave a Comment

I made the World’s Most Unfluffy Roti Prata today.
Okay because I did not use butter, salt and milk, it doesn’t even qualify as roti prata.
It was the World’s most tasteless pancake made with flour and water.
I had to salvage them with a banana and honey.
Next time, I’m following this recipe and mimicking the Roti Prata Man’s action.
